Ok, I promised I'd stop stalling and show you our save the dates so here you go!
This is what our guests saw when they first went out to their mailbox (sorry for the ugly coverup, it kind of grosses me out)
I ordered vellum envelopes from envelopemall.com, they were easy to work with and had quick shipping. Luckily they were also the cheapest spot to find vellum envelopes, which was good because I accidentally ordered one envelope PER GUEST instead of per save the date (FAIL!).
I printed the addresses off on my home computer in the fonts that matched our card, then we ran them through my xyron and stuck them to the envelopes.
Jus spent many nights punching the confetti out of patterned paper we got at Michael's.
The finished product. I designed the postcard on Adobe Illustrator and then ordered them from VistaPrint. I had heard some bad things about VistaPrint's quality but the price was right and they were the only place that offered postcards that would fit in my already ordered A2 envelopes. I was glad to be able to order the postcards on recycled paper that was matte on both sides.
I love love love our save the dates. I think they show our personalities and are lots of fun. All of our guests have loved them and some have even asked if they are supposed to keep the confetti!
The only problem now is how are we going to top them with our invitations?
Do you love your save the dates?
